Marcos,

I Hebrew Safrad means Spain! Safardim is plural, meaning those from Spain! Simple as that!

There has been Jews in Mexico since the New World was discovered! However many, from the fear of Spanish Inquisition chnage relgion,
and melted into the background! I have been to Mexico and heard many
names that had Jewish origin, but the beareres were catholics, sort of! gg

Now, the Jewish community in Mexcio is part Safardic, but also there
is a large Ashkanaz (fron the Hebrew word Ahkanaz, meaning Germany!)
community from Northern Europe!

Kind regards,

Benyaacov
