Klamath is Intel's next generation P6 chip and,naturally,will be smaller,faster,cheaper etc.. It will also have embedded MMX capabilities. I have seen an estimate that indicates Intel will produce 18 million of them in 97.
Will IxWorks be embedded in Klamath? Perhaps the announced funtionality of Klamath should answer that question,but I'm not sure enough to assume it. I have posed the question to Wind PR folks but I have not received the answer.
We also need to know if IxWorks is part of Compaq's new server line. I believe Allen has raised that question before. Although Compaq is a "homeboy" for me , I haven't found the answer to that yet,either.
As an aside, I found it interesting that on the day Sun made their NC announcement and all the troops lined up on side, Compac made a news item of their new server line. Was this a subtle way of saying whatever happens in the coming war,we'll still be here?
