Mark,
Hello, how is it going?? Good to see you still hanging around.
you said: >>There is much to teach about Jesus. He is one of the most historically important figures in History.<<
yes you are sure right here, as I would think that the Son of God on Earth is a pretty important figure in HIStory. (gg)
You are correct about all the atrocities that have been committed in the "name" of some religion or other, over the years. Now, taking that and walking FORWARD as we need to do, what can we do to erase it and make sure we do not commit the same atrocities??
IMO, all the memorials to atrocities are important, as they serve as not only reminders of the bad, but also serve as warnings as to what clues to look for to keep it from happening again. IMO we do not do a good job of heeding clues because we keep letting atrocities happen such as just ONE example, the Kmer Rouge.
Having said that about memorials,we do have to go on.There are a couple things that have to happen. the 1st and foremost is acknowledgement of sin. The second is FORGIVENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am no politician but have heard that it is still hard for countries to say they were wrong about anything; as an example I think it was just recently that Japan would say they were wrong in how they treated the Chinese in their conquest in the 30s and 40s. Not that the conquest was right, but how they did it was pretty horrible.( And here again, I am not singling out Japanese folks, just an example of history.)But beyond that, there are the people that no matter what you do, will NOT forgive you; or just as bad will say "I forgive you, but I will not forget what you did." That is not Gods way, because when He forgives it is WIPED AWAY, as it was never there!!Thank God.
Mark, your comment about God being love:
(1 John 4:7 NIV) Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
(1 John 4:8 NIV) Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
(1 John 4:9 NIV) This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
(1 John 4:10 NIV) This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
(1 John 4:11 NIV) Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
(1 John 4:12 NIV) No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
See you later, dcf
