Want to know my concerns verities about search engine business?
1) Microsoft, once again, is not sitting on its ass, they are coming with very neat search functionalities in office 97. you will get free what you had to pay before.
2) Oracle has its own search software technology and is not interested by pushing verity engine
3) Verity gear is midlleware, very few middleware companies have not been sqeezed on the long term.

LAST indexing take resources (disk space) you cannot index on 3,4,5 or more index technologies, you choose the leaders 1 or 2. To me Microsoft is # one the second is oracle.
It seems to me that verity does not have enough momentum to be number 2 or even number 3 in this business.
Now , to my understandind (and I would like to be confirmed on that) the folks who could be of help to verity are the "directories companies" yahoo, lycos, excite and others, they could standardise on verity technology.
i 'd be glad to hear about it
thanks
Eric
