re: it appears that Bay is causing Cisco to dance in circles around the L3 switching here. Furthermore, one evidence of ACUTE CONFUSION, is that the company changes direction every 2 weeks, which Cisco appears to be doing.

Come on Stockman -- Cisco serves a marketplace that Bay and others can only dream of. Sometimes, to serve all the markets Cisco plays in, there is bound to be contradiction. That's called being a multi-facted, market leader.

Cisco is dancing in circles because of Bay? Maybe if Bay was actually gaining market share and posting strong results, which the answer to both is a big NO. All they've done is seed a bunch of free Accelar units. (in House's words - account penetrations)

By the way, last market share numbers I saw showed Cisco leading Ascend in ATM WAN switch revenue. hmmm.

No Bay shareholder (or employee?) should ever have the nerve to call Cisco a confused company. One need only look in the mirror at the networking industry's confusion case study of the 90s.
