a short message...Gates said the three major themes for Win 98 are: performance; reliability; and ease of use, particularly focusing on Internet integration and support for a new generation of hardware with support for USB and DVD. Gates said there are already 30 million PCs on the market that support USB. "That is going to enable your PC not to have as many wires and yet have richer peripherals," he said. a guidepost...if not more, as well as the hypothetical direction of ampex(?), perhaps arm- in-arm with other smaller companies as mentioned n the article below posted...as they are clearly far from precluded from broad participation in this evolving market.
