I've just started reading the book, but I have heard much of it before. It's a sequel to "Inside the Tornado", which model of the high-tech market is grossly oversimplified, and long in the tooth. If the authors really mean that one of the responses they would like to hear to "The Gorilla Game" is "Well, duh!", I'm happy to give it to them.

That said, the jargon can be useful for communications. Anyone want to second a nomination of TI as a gorilla? Now that INTC is in organizational disarray, and is scrambling to find a new paradigm to technology push, my guess is TI, swinging on its DSP vine, will become the dominant male in the semicon jungle. DSP technology looks to me like it has made it past the chasm and is ready to roar into the tornado stage. TI may not have the best DSP chips, but it has the market share.
