re:telcos & traffic:
you are right, to a point. higher speed modem will help a great deal with traffic problems, for those that are downloading files, especially large files. it will be faster, therefore shorter connection time. also graphics will download faster, also meaning shorter wait time, therefor shorter connection time. satelite communications will be the big relief, imho to the rbocs. have a dish that goes right to the pop, then no need for the local connection. watch for this soon, within a year or two or three.
as far as net traffic blamed for everything, what about faxes, cell phones, pagers, etc. at least the telcos are blaming that for lack of enough phone numbers. so now we just get new area codes. also there is still a lot of traffic from wans, and bbses. can't blame the net for that. |
