Since you don't read too carefully, Intel said they would reduce their workforce by 3,000 mainly through attrition over a 6 month period. Employees leaving for their own reasons simply won't be replaced. Layoffs would only be invoked to bring the number up to 3000. Remember - with 67,000 people, 3000 represents only 4.4% This is a typical "turnover" rate for most companies on a yearly basis. Paul
