Greetings Hal, All mankind from Adam onward ( except the Lord Jesus Christ) are sinful by nature, that is , from the life we inherited from are parents right back to Adam. Sin in simple terms is " rebellion agaist God " or the desire to live independantly from God. We do not become sinners because of what we do, we are sinners by nature (birth). This fallen nature which we have, is quite evident and easily to recognise within us, if we are honest enough to look at ourselves. This Adamic nature is best desribed as " Selfishness " , the opposite to " Love ". This will take some honest effort on your part Hal to understand what I am trying to communicate to you. Even from birth we are constantly teaching our children what is right, the wrong they practise quite well naturally, even unknowingly. If Mankind is ever change He must receive a " new nature ". This is the " Good News" of the Gospel, that God was in Christ, reconcilling the World unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses against them. Born-again christians at regeneration receive this new life which is the very life of God Himself, " Eternal Life ". True Christians become part of the Body of Christ, the true Israel of God, the Church of the Firstborn. Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have two natures. one inherited from Adam by physical birth( selfish by nature), the second, by spiritual rebirth by the Holy Spirit (love by nature). May the Eternal Spirit of the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ grant unto you Hal, grace and mercy, both to see with your heart and hear with your soul, His Salvation to ALL mankind which He accomplished through through His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.
