Nanometrics Appoints New Chief Executive Officer
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1998--Nanometrics Inc. (NASDAQ:NANO) announced today that Vincent Coates, founder of the company and its chief executive officer since 1975, has today relinquished that position while remaining as chairman of the board of directors.
John D. Heaton, president and COO since 1995, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the company. Heaton has been with Nanometrics in various management positions where he has played a key role in new product development and marketing for more than eight years. Prior to joining Nanometrics, Heaton was with the National Semiconductor Corp. in various engineering positions.
Nanometrics is a leading producer of automated systems used to measure physical dimensions of circuit elements. The company has pioneered many developments in the measurement of sub-micron features on integrated circuits, flat panel displays and magnetic memory devices.
