CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (Nov. 1) BUSINESS WIRE -Nov. 1, 1996--Gensym Corp. (NASDAQ: GNSM), a leading provider of software products and services for creating intelligent systems, today introduced Fault Expert, a new software product for intelligent fault management of distributed networks.
"Fault Expert adds a layer of intelligence to traditional network management platforms, such as HP OpenView or IBM NetView, to predict and manage faults and minimize costly downtime," said Lowell Hawkinson, Gensym chairman and CEO. "It is a particularly appropriate solution for large, strategic distributed networks. These large data networks, or combined voice and data networks, can be found in many industries. Our current Fault Expert customers include AT&T, Motorola-IRIDIUM project, and a major financial services organization."
Fault Expert provides intelligent fault management of distributed client/server environments. It can detect and filter events from any object within a distributed environment including network devices and equipment, operating system components, or even applications. Then, using sophisticated rules and procedures, Fault Expert correlates and analyzes the faults, advises operators of probable root causes, and initiates automated corrective actions.
Fault Expert is expected to be commercially available in spring 1997 on a variety of platforms including HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, and Windows NT.
