<<Many of the investment decisions I've made post-Amati couldn't have been made without the education I got here on this forum. Bits of information come back almost daily, warning me away from certain investments and drawing me to others. Part of the knowledge has to do with knowing who to ask for advice. >>

This rings true to the heart of the "shame, shame" post I made to Jim W, (Which I have not seen a response -- though maybe missed) regarding Broadcom BRCM. Jim pointed out what a great IPO it was going to be and I tried to point out that there were lots of folks on the BRCM thread and other places that seemed to be brand new investors. These threads are great for information, yet they can be very dangerous for new investors who see the "quick buck" in the market. Look what has happened since my "shame" post -- some placed market orders for BRCM on the open of the IPO and paid 67-70 and now are looking at a stock selling at 51. Now if they are new to investing they are no doubt scared and may have already sold for a $19.00 loss in just two days. Now I don't know what the answer is, of course some will say we are all grown-up and responsible for our own decisions, but once again it seems to come down to the fact that long time posters have, like it or not, the responsibility to carry the burden of their assumed credibility. I Know that's a very difficult responsibility and a hard thing to judge. But I think it's incumbent upon those of us that have been around awhile to consider.
