Tom..I am sorry to hear such a "nightmarish experience". I never have any kind of problems like that with AB Watley, but then I don't usually trade in increments of 1,000 shares. I'm wondering if the speed that AVEI dropped had anything to do with this. Friday morning, casually watching AVEI knowing that I missed the boat I noticed that within minutes the entire 4 point gain vanished. Thinking somehow it was 'temporary' I got back in at an amazing price lower than the price that it closed on Thursday. Throughout the day I watched it try to improve and I was NOT able to sell my shares for the 1 1/2 profit that I would have made but finally got out with about 5/8.. This morning I was more cautious, I decided to get in when the trend was established and I thought I would wait a full 45 minutes or more.. I watched the volume and tick.. same thing happened...AVEI started to tank again. Because you said this happened to you in another stock as well, I am convinced this had nothing to do with the weird gyrations of AVEI alone.

I was having a similar problem with Lombard brokers about 1 year ago and that's when I changed to AB Watley. I still maintain a datek account and Hambrecht & Quist Account for my long term portfolio. You can't let this go by. Maybe some posters of the thread can help with some ideas.
