That's an interesting question. But with the justice concerns already in Mr. Gate's face, do you really thing he would try going horizontal?

I've been told that he wanted to put router code in NT, and by golly, you can now route pretty well with NT 4.0. NT 5.0 is supposed to enhance that ability somewhat, but it will not be able to play in the same markets as real routers. There just is not enough bandwidth inside the common hardware platforms to duplicate what is done on the back planes and DMAs of todays routers.

On www.cnn.com there is a video of Bill and a assistant at a computer
show showing off windows 98. It locked up! He said "well that's why
it's not time to release it." Was this a set up to get sympathy from the DOJ?

cnn.com

rumor has it that Bill went out afterwards and bought a Macintosh!
