Mr. Allen: I believe you may have some things mixed up. Visx machines may or may not perform 70 % of all laser vision corrections in the U.S.- I would like to see the numbers. However, do not confuse procedures completed with royalties received. As GrandPohba correctly stated, BEAM and VISX receive royalties on a 44/56 split.

Also, I question your statement that the procedures are done on both eyes. It is my understanding that both eyes are only done on the Sunrise Holmium machine, which was just approved in February 1998 to treat both eyes one after the other. In addition, that is a completely different type of machine from the excimer. Rather than ablate the tissue (cut it or shave it), the Sunrise machine shrinks the collagen which in turn corrects hyperopia (the long term results are still questionable-will the collagen come back?)

If there is anyone that wants to correct me, that's fine-but show me facts.
