Julius,
Your approach seems quite practical. I tend to beat myself up at times working elaborate system fits to catch more uncooperative fish. By utilizing the backtesting statistics for these pattern fits on a broader universe I'm basically attempting to accomplish what you're stating - albeit a somewhat less efficient method. Either way, with only 24 hrs in the day a 10% gain is the same regardless of the transport vehicle. You'll certainly get the better mileage rating :-)
