Just to avoid any confusion here, Motorola does not manufacture batteries, only assembled packs. They developed in-house expertise in designing and manufacturing battery packs for their own radios & cell phones (etc) a long time ago and now resell that service to other people. Meaning they design the plastic shell, circuitry in the pack, etc, but they buy the actual battery cells from someone else (like Sanyo or Panasonic). Their contract with Micron is a simple outsourcing of design that is done in-house or with a direct battery mfg. partner at most other notebook players.
