Read up on Rogaine's mechanism of action (not its antihypertensive action but the one for hair growth). There is similarity there.

PS: The main consideration should be placed on central vs peripheral--the latter kind would show greater propensity for hair growth.

PSS: Selection of chemical entities for drug development is rarely based upon the presence of absence of desired pharmacological properties alone; it also depends upon the presence or absence of untoward side effects--even to a greater extent sometimes.
