A line by Jim Morrison (of the Doors). I am afraid Jim has captured my feelings on this issue. If the vegetable part of my diet is screaming as it dies I am more interested in hearing it than in preventing it.
I do have some lamented experience with rutabagas though. In my childhood my great aunt used to serve them, turnips, and parsnips to us when we visited. I recall whimpers and moans but they were all from the stricken children gathered around the table.
