Hi Pat,

I havn't seen a description yet of US Wests VDSL but I suspect they're taking advantage of the lingo. They call it variable.
The ANSI TIEI.4 VDSL addresses "Very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Lines." ANSI's standard reference model functions over both ISDN and POTS lines. I think the ANSI standard and USW's are different animals. I could be wrong. Would the telco's stoop to such depths?
