TALX Partners With Gibbens to Increase Distribution of The Work Number
Gibbens, Leading Benefits Cost Containment Firm, to Offer Automated Salary Verification
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 1998-- TALX Corp. (NASDAQ: TALX - news) has announced a new partnership with Gibbens Co., a leading benefit cost containment firm. As a sales partner of TALX, Gibbens can now offer its clients The Work Number, the automated employment and salary verification service TALX began marketing to large employers in 1995.
''We are thrilled with the opportunities and synergy we expect will result from this partnership,'' noted Bill Canfield, president and CEO of TALX. ''Gibbens is an experienced and trusted advisor to benefits managers throughout corporate America, and we believe our union with Gibbens will allow TALX to increase the visibility and distribution of The Work Number,'' he said.
''The Work Number offering complements the full array of services we provide our clients,'' commented Mario Poretto, executive vice president of Gibbens. ''This unique outsource solution is unmatched elsewhere in the marketplace,'' he added.
''Gibbens clients already understand the strategic value of outsourcing,'' commented Gary Been, TALX national product director. ''Our partnership will allow Gibbens to introduce their clients to the benefits of outsourcing employment and salary verification to TALX. The Work Number service TALX developed lets employers drastically reduce their administration of employment and salary verification, which many human resource executives view as a resource-draining nuisance,'' he explained.
Typically before a bank grants a loan, it contacts the loan applicant's employer to verify the applicant's employment and salary. Companies that employ thousands of people are deluged with such requests for information and incur administrative costs to process them. The Work Number service offers employers an automated solution by allowing companies to feed their payroll records into a national database. With appropriate security clearances, banks and other organizations can access the database automatically to verify the information.
The nation's largest corporate employer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. [NYSE:WMT - news], and numerous others including Hewlett-Packard, JC Penney, Microsoft, Motorola, PeopleSoft, Procter & Gamble, Quaker Oats, Sears Roebuck & Co., Sun Microsystems, Tenet Healthcare Corp. [NYSE:THC - news], United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and Walgreen Co. [NYSE:WAG - news] outsource employment and salary verification to TALX. The employment records of these employers are combined on one national database of nearly 20 million records -- including data about current and former employees.
