To All: Conversation with Joel P.
I just got off the phone with Joel Pomerantz, over at Dilenschneider Group(212) 922-0900.
Here's the jist of our conversation: *No expansion plans in the works. In fact they just closed 8-9 centers they had purchased from BEAM, due to under-performance, attributed to an over-lap of market and services in basically the same local. May look at expansion opps 2-3 quarters down the road. *Approximately 60% of their current business consists of the LASIK procedure, which costs about $5,000. They anticipate this to increase to 80% of their busines by year end. (If I am correct, LASIK is the most advanced method with the least amount of discomfort.) Older, original methods have been like comparing a model "T" to a Ferrarri(LASIK). This is a comparison I have read. * With LASIK, both eyes are being treated at the same time. *They anticipate a reduction in advertising, as they are quickly finding out word-of-mouth is growing the business much faster than anticipated. When one of your co-workers, who has been wearing glasses forever, suddenly shows up sans glasses, people are going to ask questions. He said the folks over at LCAV are very euphoric. *Expect to release quarterly(?) figures the second week of May. He said to watch it grow.
