Rod thinks Java and Corba go together like bread and butter when its
actually more like oil and water.

This is like the promise of common browser based productivity tools
promised by the java alliance. So what did they do? Oracle developed
Hat Trick, Lotus did eSuite, Corel did JavaOffice, and even Sun was
supposed to deliver something.

What is the point of eSuite? It is just another proprietary set of
tools controlled by a single vendor.

The same goes for Java+Corba. The Corba politicians want to make big
bucks off something that should be free and ubiqitous. Notice how
Ionay doesn't approve of Java orb technology?

Has the java alliance learned a lesson or will we see yet another
compatability fiasco with the proposed webtop?
