Growth fund with four picks? You weigh each stock and buy more on the ones that can grow.

Balanced fund? You anchor your investment with big stocks so that the small stock does not drag the fund down too much; but the small stock gives you the leverage.

Index fund? Buy the same number of shares on all stocks.

Hedge fund? Buy the stocks so that small stocks have more shares to hedge the big stock because they go up and down at different timing.
