Tony, I think PC Quote is pretty good, much more stable IMO than InterQuote which I had used before for several months. Partly this is because PCQ has multiple servers for redundancy.

What isn't redundant so far as I can tell is their connection to the internet through alter.net (which I believe is UUNET). This is the weakest link, again IMO, but has generally been pretty good.

It's a bit cranky if it doesn't get data for awhile if, for example, you lose your own phone connection to the internet. I recently changed ISP's (to mci) and I am much happier now. The software you run on your machine tries to reconnect to servers if it thinks it has lost connection and this does not work so well. Better to just shut it down and restart it. Once in awhile when I do this, it thinks I am already logged in (a ghost from the prev connection) and won't let me reconnect or override this; a flaw IMO. Usually this self corrects in a few minutes but once I had to call PCQ to get this cleared.

You need to understand the multiple programs it runs to do its job as some run in the background and can sometimes plague you if you want to restart and you don't restart everything.

I had a bit of trouble getting the link to Excel to work but that was mostly a documentation problem. In general, the doc could be much better. But once I got the Excel link to work, I have had no problems with it and like it very much.

As for delay, of course it is hard to tell but I think there is no perceptible delay except at busy market openings when pretty much everything I have ever seen has problems keeping up.

In summary, count me as a satisfied customer. Biggest wish is that they get redundant internet access and, of course, lower their prices.
