The network is based on MPEG-2 video coding standard and employs synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) transport system. Both SDH and MPEG-2 systems allow for a single network to carry video, voice and data traffic. Twelve cities in China's Zhejiang province will be connected through a central network.
