OptimumCare Combines Treatment Sites To Achieve Cost Savings, Expand Program Reach
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--April 21, 1998-- OptimumCare Corp. (OTC/BB: OPMC - news) Tuesday announced that it has combined its partial hospitalization behavioral healthcare programs in Baldwin Park and El Monte, Calif.
''Our decision to combine ongoing treatment programs at these two sites results in significant improvements in operating costs, and an opportunity to expand the overall program reach in this community,'' said Edward A. Johnson, OptimumCare's president and chief executive officer. ''It is part of our commitment to improve upon all aspects of OptimumCare's day-to-day operations.''
OptimumCare's behavioral health care programs have been in operation at El Monte for three years. It had maintained a similar program in Baldwin Park for five years. The combined operations approximate 10 percent of OptimumCare's annual revenue.
''This is a win-win for OptimumCare and the communities we serve,'' Johnson said. ''The Baldwin Park site served us well, but was not part of our vision for the future. With El Monte just seven miles away, we're able to offer our health care programs in a more modern and well-staffed facility to our community base in the Baldwin Park area.''
To accommodate the increase in patients, OptimumCare has reassigned its Baldwin Park-based professional caregivers to the El Monte facility, and eliminated several administrative positions. Approximately 12 OptimumCare psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and highly trained psychiatric nurses, as well as program directors, now administer the combined programs at the El Monte facility.
''By month's end, we expect to announce another significant combination of existing treatment sites,'' Johnson reported.
Created in 1987 to respond to opportunities presented by increasing utilization of behavioral health services, OptimumCare Corp. provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services through a network of affiliated hospitals, medical centers and community health centers.
