Ancient coinage.

Worswick:

Say where are you these days? Still at the library digging at Chinese history,I suppose. Pardon me for asking, but did you say you are a professional historian or an amateur? In any case since you are at least seem to be fond on history, can you tell me something about 'ancient coinage'? My recently found enthusiasm for history made me look for some information on ancient coinages and I found that coins are one of the best ways to confirm the authenticity of historical facts as historians usually has personal agendas when they write history. Anyway in my spare time I thought I dig for historical facts starting with India, then the work my way toChina,Middle East,Europe etc.I am also 'kinda' thinking of collecting a few ancient coins from various era/dynasties purely for historical appreciation and not as an investment. I was wondering whether you can shed some light on this subject. Much obliged as usual.

PS: I do have some beautiful silver coins from erstwhile princely states of Kerala which I found in our attic when I was kid. I also found small part of a deed of one of our property written on some kind of palm leaves at the time.
