Emile paul was addressing gentiles in galations not jews. The suject is set in GAL.2: 9 " and when james, cephas, and john, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me,they gave to me barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go unto the heathen, and the unto circumcision." ( the galations were requiring people to be cicumcised this is the law he addresses, i can hear it now to be saved you must be circumcised) ......................................... Lets see what paul has to say when he addresses the question of the salvation of the jews. ROM 11:1 "i say then hath god cast away his people? god forbid. for i also am an istaelite of the seed of abraham,of the tribe of benjamin." ( the question sets the subject of chapter 11) ROM 11:25 " for i would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to israel,( paul is worried that the romans would become wise in their own conceits if this mystery was not told to them. the reason he says " in part" is given in verse 2&4)..... " untill the fulness of the gentiles be come in" ( here paul gives the amount of time the jews will be blinded) 26 " and so all israel will be saved: as it is written, there shall come out of sion the deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from jacob 27 for this is my covenant unto them, when i shall take away their sins" ( notice he says all israel) 28 " as concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:" ( they cannot believe until god lifts the blindness) "but as touching the election, they are beloved for their fathers sakes." 29 " for the gifts and calling of god are without repentance." ( they will be saved god will not change his mind) 30 "for as ye in times past have not believed god,yet now have obtained mercy through their unbelief" ( here is the reason for the blinding, to save the gentiles) 31 " even so have these also not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 for god hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all " ( first the gentiles dont believe god then the jews dont believe god, through this god will save both jew and gentile) 33 " o the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of god ! how unsearchable his judgements, his ways past finding out! ( do not read over this verse if you think you know every thing about about gods plan of salvation) |
