The download takes under a minute, normally. You don't have a choice about what you download; you always get it all. Updating the database takes another 3-5 minutes (on Pentium class machines). That updates all the stocks. Name changes and splits are updated in the process. There are approximately (I'm not looking) 12,000 symbols involved. I don't know where 80,000 comes from--there are no BB or option symbols. Check it out. You get 30 days free. Don't take my word for it.
