Patent expires in Canada year 2000, 2001 here. I am sure Astra-Merck would want to cut a deal as this would allow them to secure their product for years to come. Worst case scenario, Andrx licenses the patent, uses an alternative, or waits to launch.

Still pure upside!

Product could be launched a year earlier in Canada, which does make it shrink the time frame.

If Astra-Merck does not sue, then a deal would be likely.
