There is no "good or bad" content in this post. Just an observation.
One visible thing has happened. That is the hiring of an apparently competent public relations firm to write and disseminate press releases, and "place" articles in trade journals. The Siliscape Inc. matter was well handled, IMO. The press release contained most elements of necessary information, and the EETimes (or whatever) article contained some history and people background. Most of that stuff has to be, and is, spoon-fed by the PR firm.
The only fly in the ointment, to me, was that the article was on Dow Jones late Friday, which indicates the agreement may have been fully executed at or before the conference call (or, maybe not). Anyway, the press release should have preceded the story, not vice versa. A small matter, and not noticeable except to an obsessive watcher like me. Had it been a trading day, however......
Media relations ARE shareholder relations, in a company which has limited its investment market exposure, as has this one.
Offthread: The Lexus GPS system LCD is "touch-screen"...for radio, maps, air conditioning, etc. I don't give a flip about the car...the DISPLAY is outstanding, and sold the car, not vice-versa. Whoever gets volume and pricing of this option down below $500 (the Lexus unit is $2,200, probably mostly profit), is going to sell millions of them.
Its going to happen, because it sells cars. At some price, everyone will act like I did, because the benefits are there and obvious. For me, the marginal value exceeded the marginal price of the display and systems. (I guess that's why they call it an "option".) For persons who are not a display freak, the price will have to be much less.
Can the rear projection microdisplay be made touch-screen ??? I think so. TFS management....take a test drive!!!! |
