I agree with you Thrifty, this stock is a steal at $9. Over the past year and a half I
have bought and sold SMSC a couple of times. I first started following it when Value
Line had it in their bargain basement list. Frankly I don't put much faith in the Value
Line analyst's comments since they have missed the mark as often as they hit it.
My valuation is based on their book value of $13.09/sh and $18.5 million in
cash with only $8 mil. debt. Unless they really have a skeleton left over from Halloween,
it would be hard to lose at this price.
