I leave my computer on all day long and never had a problem. Not that it can't happen but it is very rare. Not much of a different situation from TV, radio, etc.

Kat, I would be curious to know if the Memory was recently purchased. If a problem is going to occur in a new device, it usually occurs within the first couple of weeks.

...BTW, you weren't visiting any of GRIM's sites when this occurred? That can also cause those memory chips to get overheated and start smokin'.<g>
