CBC Radio News reports in a Wednesday morning newscast that
legendary stock promoter Murray Pezim died Wednesday morning,
apparently of a heart attack, at the age of 78. Prime Equities
International director Naren Majithia says that Mr Pezim passed away
at about 7:30 am. Mr Majithia says that Murray was always an honest
person and his handshake was good enough for anybody. Vancouver Sun
reporter David Baines says this is very sad news for him, and he has
always had a soft spot for Murray. Mr Baines says he was the
consummate promoter, he had no pretences about himself and he was a
remarkable man. Mr Baines says the Mr Pezim created big rolling
markets with lots of liquidity, in which everbody could get in and get
out, and everybody had a chance to have some fun. Mr Majithia says that
Murray took risks and he put his own money in every deal that he was
involved with. Mr Baines says that Mr Pezim had many achievements and
he was inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame just a few weeks
ago. Pezim will be sadly missed by the staff at Prime Equities and by his
many industry colleagues. His contributions over 30 years to the VSE,
the mining industry, and to charitable organizations are legendary.
