QUALCOMM Unveils New 800 MHz Dual-Mode CDMA
Digital QT Phone

--New Integrated Antenna Provides Greater Ease of Use and Gives A
Sleek New Look to the Q Phone--

SAN DIEGO - February 18, 1998 - QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM)
today announced its new 800 MHz dual-mode Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) QT phone. The sleek new Q phone is the first palm-sized folding phone
to provide digital cellular customers all of the benefits of CDMA digital
technology in a convenient package. The dual-mode phone allows customers
to seamlessly roam between 800 MHz CDMA digital cellular and analog
networks.

"The new 800 MHz Q phone is the industry's first CDMA digital phone to feature
an internal antenna," said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, president of QUALCOMM's
Subscriber Products Division. "The integrated antenna streamlines the overall
ergonomics of the phone's design, while providing improved call reception.
Users can also answer calls more quickly and easily, without the need to raise
an antenna."

For greater flexibility in call management, the 800 MHz Q phone offers users a
variety of audible ringers, including an escalating ringer. The phone also
features silent vibration call notification and the ability to silence a call with
the touch of a button. In addition, a call can be answered by simply opening
the phone. Using the caller ID mode, an incoming call number appears on the
display and can be answered with a single touch of a button. In auto-answer
mode, a call can be answered effortlessly by a user predefined set of criteria.

The Q phone series is also upgradeable to accommodate access to future
wireless data and information services. The phone's large liquid crystal display
(LCD) includes a four-line by 12 character area plus a line of icons indicating
signal strength, battery status, transmission mode, roaming status and other
functions. In addition, the Q phone's LCD supports short messaging service,
caller ID and voice mail alert.

An extensive line of accessories is available for the Q phone including: a
rechargeable Lithium Ion battery pack; rapid travel charger; CDMA data cable
(for use when CDMA data services are available); hands-free car kit;
hands-free headset and Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect System (HATIS)
certified hands-free headset; cigarette lighter adapter; belt clip; and rapid
desktop charger. The 800 MHz Q phone includes QUALCOMM's new MSM 2300
chip, which reduces standby power consumption. In addition, a new optional
extended Lithium Ion battery is available. When combined, the efficiencies
achieved deliver extended standby times to the user.

In addition to the hands-free car kit for the Q phone series, there is a new
sleek Q Handyphone car kit. Delivering the crystal clear reception quality of
QUALCOMM's CDMA digital Q phone, the thin lightweight handset serves as a
docking station for quick switch over between hands-free mode and
conventional operation for privacy mode. Once the phone is placed into the
docking station, it operates under fast charge battery cycle.

The new dual-mode Q phone complements QUALCOMM's entire family of
advanced CDMA digital phones, including the 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz PCS Q
phones, the QCP series of cellular and PCS portable phones, and the QCT
series of cellular and PCS fixed wireless phones. The hallmarks of every
QUALCOMM CDMA digital phone include crystal clear voice quality, enhanced
privacy and fewer dropped calls.
