Actually, a Associated Press article which ran in most major newspapers across the country last week stated 100% every month, not 100 days. So, someone obviously has their 30 vs. 100 incorrect. I've seen nothing in the financial press relative to the AP article. I believe it is a guess as to how fast the internet is growing each month. Yahoo's announcement relative to Italy was that only 3% of total households in Italy is currently using the internet, which is the largest internet user, thus far, of the European countries. The article quotes an Italian expert that that usage rate will jump to nearly 70% of total households by 1999. So, if you use an alogorithmic formula to compute the increase in usage from 3% of households to 70% of households in two years, noting the increase not only in the total population use but also the increase in the visits per person per day, you come up with greater than 100% growth each month.

the internet is obviously growing at different rates in different places. Let's see there are 5 billion people in China. The Chinese authorities have stated that it is their goal to "help" equip at least 10% of households and businesses with a computer over the next five years. That translates into 1 billion people, not counting in population growth in between times. 1 billion people is three times as many people as living in the U.S. More so-called facts.
