Agreement Broadens Line of NCD ThinSTAR Windows-Based Terminals
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1998--Network Computing Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:NCDI - news), a leading manufacturer of thin client desktop hardware and server software, today announced it will broaden its NCD ThinSTAR Windows-based terminals to include support for Citrix's new ICA software for Microsoft's embedded Windows CE operating system.
NCD ThinSTAR thin clients access Windows-based applications running on Citrix WinFrame(R) or upcoming MetaFrame(TM) thin-client/server software in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Terminal Server.
With the addition of Citrix's ICA Client for Windows CE, NCD customers may choose Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Citrix's upcoming MetaFrame(TM) thin client/server software, designed to reduce the cost of enterprise computing through centralized application deployment and management, broadened application access, bandwidth-independent performance and deliver robust application security.
''NCD announced an ICA client for NCD Explora thin clients in September 1997. Since that time, we have seen the demand for ICA support accelerate,'' stated Ka Wai Leung, Director of Thin Client Product Marketing for NCD. ''The NCD ThinSTAR Windows-based Terminal is targeted specifically at Windows NT application users, and they have stated that availability of RDP and ICA support are important options.''

''NCD's thin client devices and Citrix's thin-client/server software bring organizations manageable, reliable and high-performance access to business-critical applications. Citrix looks forward to working with NCD in promoting the benefits of thin-client/server computing across NCD's broadened Windows-based terminal product line.'' |
