Kiriakos , compare apples to apples ,your example gives a 35% increase for Pentium Pro .The difference in clock rate you cited is 2.22x.So even if you compared a 90 mhz Pentium with a 200 mhz Pentium ,the 200mhz version could be 2.22 as fast adding a further 35% would bring the relative processor speed to 300% as you stated . PS according to the press the higher speed Intel processors do not give a linear increase with faster clock rates . But your observations back up my previous statement that Pro is only 30% quicker than Pentium .Also to set the record straight on comments regarding the Nov Byte article a few points that were conveniently left out by our Intel loving Rod Mcpherson . Firstly the article by its own admission was written prior to sept way before AMD's release of 120 + 133 mhz K5s. Second on page 99 it cautions buyers that if they run a great deal of 16 bit software (which most people still do) that Pentium Pro is not a good choice ,but buyers could consider an AMD or Cyrix chip , regards Brian
