Concerning the sad state of affairs on this thread ...
I have not looked at this thread much lately, nor XCIT ... because I have long held substantial positions in both that have paid off beyond my wildest expectations. I'm still holding half my positions in both and wouldn't shed a tear if they went to zero (NOT!), because it's all found money.
Anyway, I just want to say how appalled I am at what has become of both threads. I don't know how long this decline in taste and standards has been going on ... I wouldn't have the stomach for backtracking through the posts.
These once were great threads! Intelligent people providing great DD, answering questions courteously, banter between longs and shorts carried on with humor and good taste, positive reinforcement for the stocks without hype. No longer. The class is gone.
I wouldn't know enough to put the blame on any one person. In any case, I think it's more of a general decline in standards on SI that started with the free trial and the expansion of membership. Threads are becoming dominated by day-traders (hour traders?) who move in waves from one thread to another looking only for quick in-and-out strikes. These people know, and care about, little more than the symbol and the current momentum directions of prices and volume. Other than bragging about their daily winnings on the upside or the downside, or spreading hype or doom as best fits their position for the moment, they have nothing of substance to contribute. Their attention span is extremely short, and when they get bored (easily) they clutter threads with juvenile note-passing reminiscent of junior high.
The sad thing is that they obscure and discourage intelligent discussion of the stocks involved. Fortunately, their presence won't affect the future of SEEK or XCIT. Each of these companies has a brilliant game plan, and they are expertly positioned to exploit and prosper from the incredible explosion of the Internet which is on the world's doorstep. We truly ain't seen nothin' yet.
I do recognize that there still are people here who are able to visualize a future beyond tomorrow's opening and closing price. Let's hope that the others move on to the next BAAT and allow this thread to be restored to what it once was.
