Their are several freeway bridge "demonstrator" programs. The ones currently funded are XXSYS wound columns using Hexcel's 12K fiber. I know that XXSYS is working with Zoltek and Akso to see if 50K will work as a lower cost second source for future contracts. If you really believe in the seismic retrofit market, XXSYS is the high risk, high gain investment (not for me though!)
