***NEWS RELEASE***
SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES LIMITED
TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - SouthernEra Resources Limited (SUF-TSE) has been informed through an article in The Financial Post today that South African Minister of Minerals & Energy, Penuell Maduna has stated that Section 17 of the Minerals Act, South Africa is applicable in the Marsfontein case and that the state will defend the matter against 29 heirs who succeeded last month in registering mineral rights to the disputed property. The Minister is quoted as saying ''the mineral rights are currently held in undivided shares by certain four persons who have already died some 30 years ago without any heirs/beneficiaries who became entitled thereto taking cession thereof'' and that the heirs did not register the mineral rights within the time required by law. The economic consul in South Africa's Toronto consulate was also quoted as saying that the decision is part of a larger government policy to open up the system to smaller companies and new entrants. The Company is currently attempting to confirm the comments but is very encouraged by the Minister's statement as reported in the press.
