My view is that xDSL will not reach everyone because of requirement to be close to the switch(?)--as you can tell, I do not know the specifics on the technology, but I know there are some proximity requirements. There will always be those not served by the latest technology--note the proliferation of DBS because of cable's limitation. I live in a suburb of a city of 10 million and I can't get cable, nor can my phone line support 56k modems(or 28k for that matter). There will always be a market for sat services.
