However, I suggest you use percentage rather than absolute, which
may reflect more accurately.

Jeez, make me take out my calculator why don't you.

Okay, here it is in %ages. For downswings, the % is derived from the
difference in the low $ numbers in the range, divided by the
previous low $. For upswings, the % is derived from the difference
in the high numbers in the range, divided by the previous high
number. 4/98 and 5-6/98 use the same %ages from 1/98 and 2-3/98
respectively.

Range Diff Month Climate

$21-$24 N/A 9/97 Post Microsoft announcement
$16-$20 -24% 10-11/97 After 10/97 -ve earnings
$13-$16 -19% 12/97 Tax loss selling
$17-$20 +25% 1/98 After 1/98 +ve earnings
$20-$28 +40% 2-3/98 Run-up before 4/98 earnings
$27-$35 +25% 4/98 After 4/98 +ve earnings
$35-$49 +40% 5-6/98 Run-up before 7/98 earnings

I can see, now, where you get your $50 from.

(This seems very high to me, btw).
