go2net to buy Silicon Investor
SEATTLE, April 23 (Reuters) - go2net Inc., an Internet web-site provider, said Thursday it has agreed to acquire Silicon Investor for about $33 million in stock in order to increase its reach in the personal investment sector.
The company said it will issue about 1.25 million of its common shares in exchange for all outstanding securities of Silicon Investor, an on-line discussion community.
The acquisition is subject to go2net shareholder approval and customary closing conditions.
The company said in a statement the acquisition of Silicon Investor (http://www.techstocks.com) will increase the advertising, subscription and commerce opportunities for go2net, as well as nearly triple the company's current total page views per month and significantly increase its overall reach.
In addition to advertising revenues, Silicon Investor derives a substantial portion of its revenues from subscription fees.
More than 100,000 individual investors visit Silicon Investor each day to discuss and research investments, resulting in over 100 million page views per month and making it one of the most highly trafficked sites in the personal finance category.
