Bryan, re your comment that: 'Delta is expanding the Express into
markets that they don't compete with Southwest in and so they are cutting into their own profits by offering lower rates then their own flights. Very strange.'

That may be a preemptive strike to tell other carriers to stay out of their routes or they will not make any money. Or it may reflect increased competition in the area generally. Sources in Boston have mentioned a similar decline in fares in the past few weeks even on routes that Southwest doesn't serve.
