This is the first I have heard of the FAA's doubt regarding GPS technology. Could someone please elaborate? Where can I find the relevant FAA statements and other related FAA announcements?

Does this somehow qualify the FAA decision to phase out ILN and phase in GPS? Or does it just mean that some barebones, skeletal system will be maintained alongside of GPS?

I also heard from Pelorus that the FAA has moved ahead the phase-in of GPS so that it will start in the year 2000. How does this square with FAA doubts? Any ideas on the volume of activity likely to begin in 2000?
