clam clam: an observation for the thread:
Microsoft and Cisco profited from staying on the nasdaq when it was young. In order for a company to become a gorilla it needs a large amount of institutional support ($$$) when it is young, and this is provided by being tied to an index that is purchased for pension plans. If a company can get voted onto the S&P smallcap index, or one of the foreign indexes, it has a vastly better chance of becoming a gorilla because index-fund buying will inflate its market cap and give it an advantage in buying out its competitors.
