Why shorters "Don't get no respect ..."

News flash ... it IS possible to make money in the stock market without hurting someone else. It's called "investing."

For example, this is the SEEK thread on the Silicon Investor. It's the home field for our team. When the home team wins, i.e., SEEK goes up, the investors here make money. No one has to lose anything in order for us to win, because the increase in share value represents the creation of new wealth for all who participate in this investment.

Shorters, on the other hand, specifically do seek (no pun intended) to benefit at the expense of others. The ONLY way a shorter can win is by selling phantom shares to some REAL PERSON while betting that the share price will fall and that the REAL PERSON will suffer a loss equal to the shorter's gain.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know ... only pointing out why shorters will never be loved or afforded sympathy on an investor forum. They will always be regarded as pariahs who bet against the home team, hoping that they can profit from someone else's misfortune.

BTW micny, my observation is not directed at you personally; I don't even know which side you are on. Nor would it matter ... none of us here made the rules, and we all entitled to play within the rules in whatever manner each of us chooses to do it.
